Fishing Report July 2nd 2026
Rain, rain, and more rain. That was the story for most of last week. While it can make fishing a little more difficult right now, we desperately needed it and this should go a long way as it relates to river conditions for the next few weeks and beyond.
Salmon River
The Salmon River is currently flowing at 2600 CFS, so it's gone up quite a bit with all of the rain. Water temperatures are high 50's to low 60's and the clarity has diminished just a bit, although, still fishable. The Stoneflies are still hatching in good numbers and the fish are actively looking for them and I expect that to last for a few more weeks. Foam and rubber legs is the ticket.
Lemhi River
The Lemhi River is flowing at 271 CFS at Lemhi and 360 CFS here in town. It's going to be a few days before the Lemhi is ready to fish again. Once irrigation is kicked back on, it should come down pretty quickly.
Panther Creek
Panther creek is running at 100 CFS and has been fishing really well even with all of the rain. The Cutthroat are really starting to migrate up Panther and it should get better as each day goes by. Foam and rubber legs is the name of the game out there as well. Chubby Chernobyl's and Amy's Ants have brought lots of success over the last couple of weeks.
This rain will hinder fishing in some spots for a few days but everything should come back down very quickly and fishing should continue to be excellent. Guided trips have been REALLY good. Give us a shout to book your float trip!
Go Fish!
